Mobile Broadband Is The Future Of The Music Business!

In 2001, I graduated with a degree in Music Business from Middle Tennessee State University and was fortunate to land a job at RCA Records in New York City. RCA's parent company was BMG (now Sony BMG) and they had just bought Napster. My excitement of BMG's Napster acquitistion was a key factor that help me land this job.

Unfortunately, BMG was the only conglomerate who held the cliche notion, "If you can't beat them, join them." The remaining four EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner thought, "No, let's just beat them into submission and make them pay..... for music again!" The music industry attempts at trying to turn back time when the majority bought music is futile, but maybe this just is a stall tactic? A tactic that is awaiting when everyone has Mobile Broadband on their Smartphones, Ipods, IPhones and other mobile devices.

When the majority of consumers have Mobile Broadband on mobile devices, then music can FREELY be streamed directly to devices Internet browsers through various websites; user would tune in through the website and the site would serve geographical ads on the same page they are listening to their song choice. Right now, we can not perform a Google search for Pink Floyd's, "Wish You Were Here," and have Google populate links to listen to it via Google or through social music network sites like Last FM.. We should as this free streaming alternative for music consumption would allow the Music Industry to regain the lost revenue through online advertising. Look at Google, as of today June 6th 2007 it's stock price is valued at $518.84 and their bread and butter is online advertising!
